On August 26, the inaugural AE10 “Zhimou Hui” Closed-Door Roundtable of the Shanghai Pudong Automotive Chuangxin Consortium was held at Jinqiao One Center in Shanghai. The invitation-only session brought together executives and industry representatives from automakers, automotive suppliers, semiconductor companies, and software companies to exchange views on automotive intelligence, chip applications, and collaboration across the automotive value chain. The event was guided by the Pudong New Area Commission of Science, Technology and Economy and Jinqiao Administrative Bureau, and jointly hosted by the Pudong New Area Industrial Development Promotion Center and the Shanghai Transportation Electronics Association.
Cai Xudong(Jason), Chairman and General Manager of Watson Rally, participated in the roundtable as an invited corporate representative, joining representatives from across the automotive value chain to discuss the application of China-developed automotive-grade chips and collaborative innovation in the automotive industry.
The event also marked the official launch of the AE10 “Zhimou Hui”. Designed as a platform for focused industry exchange, the initiative brings together leaders from key areas including intelligent driving, intelligent cockpits, and intelligent chassis to discuss practical industry needs and opportunities for collaboration.
During the discussion, Cai Xudong shared Watson Rally’s experience and perspectives in the R&D and commercialization of Electro-Mechanical Brake (EMB) technology, with a focus on the practical application of automotive-grade chips and collaboration across the supply chain. He noted that EMB systems are safety-critical automotive systems, placing high demands on chip reliability, functional safety, and real-world application performance.
For China-developed automotive-grade chips to move from being “usable” to being ready for broader production applications, they need to be continuously validated and refined in real-world scenarios, with closer collaboration across the automotive value chain. Drawing on its technical expertise and commercialization experience in EMB, Watson Rally is participating in a chip application joint development project supported by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, using real-world application scenarios to validate China-developed chips for intelligent chassis applications.
In recent years, Watson Rally has continued to focus on core execution technologies for intelligent chassis systems. Its passenger-vehicle EPB and front brake caliper products have reached mass production at scale, while the company is accelerating the commercialization of EMB. In response to customer project requirements, Watson Rally also continues to develop and validate different chip solutions for its products.
Since establishing its presence in Jinqiao, Pudong, Watson Rally has actively participated in regional automotive innovation and industry collaboration, maintaining ongoing engagement with partners across the automotive value chain.
