Shanghai Watson Rally Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. (Watson Rally) has successfully achieved ISO 26262:2018 Functional Safety Development Process Certification up to ASIL D, marking an important milestone in the company’s continued development of software engineering and functional safety capabilities.
ASIL D is the highest Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) defined by ISO 26262, representing the most stringent level of functional safety requirements for automotive product development.
As braking systems become increasingly electronic and software-driven, software has become an essential part of delivering functionality and ensuring safety in products such as Electro-Mechanical Braking (EMB) systems. Focused on the development and production of automotive braking systems, Watson Rally has continued to strengthen its software engineering capabilities, building a professional team with extensive experience in automotive software development and functional safety. As the team continues to grow, close collaboration between software and hardware engineering teams has enabled the company to continuously build and apply engineering expertise throughout product development and iteration.
To meet functional safety requirements, Watson Rally has established a development process covering requirements analysis, system and software architecture, software development, testing and verification, configuration management, and change management. Functional safety requirements are integrated throughout the development process through mechanisms including bidirectional requirements traceability, process reviews, verification and validation, and toolchain management.
The certification was conducted by SGS, a globally recognized testing, inspection, and certification organization. SGS experts commented: “Watson Rally’s achievement of functional safety development process certification up to ASIL D demonstrates a particularly rigorous and comprehensive software development framework. The company’s commitment to product safety and its ability to translate that commitment into engineering practices are also highly commendable.”
Functional safety is a long-term commitment that extends throughout the entire product development lifecycle. This certification represents a significant milestone in Watson Rally’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its software engineering and functional safety capabilities. During the certification process, the team conducted a systematic review and technical validation of its development processes, further enhancing its R&D system and providing stronger support for the production and continuous evolution of EMB and other intelligent chassis products.
Looking ahead, Watson Rally will continue to deepen its capabilities in braking actuation technology and automotive software, combining continuously evolving products with solid engineering expertise to become a worldwide trustworthy chassis system suppliera trusted chassis systems.
